COVID-19 Travel Information (Sept 2021)

Kenya

  • All arriving passengers aged 5 years and older on international flights whose body temperature is NOT above 37.5°C (99.5°F), do not have a persistent cough, difficulty in breathing or other flu-like symptoms, have a negative PCR based COVID-19 test carried out within 96 hours before travel and are from countries listed in section D on this list, shall be exempt from quarantine;
  • All arriving passengers below the age of 5 years are not required to have a negative PCR based COVID-19 test;
  • Departing passengers whose airline or destination country requires a negative PCR based COVID-19 test are required to utilise the Trusted Travel website trustedtravel.panabios.org (or Global Haven www.globalhaven.org if the test certificate is from a jurisdiction where Trusted Travel is not available), following testing, travellers will receive an SMS and/or email from PanaBIOS admin@panabios.org with instructions on how to generate a Travel Code from trustedtravel.panabios.org to be approved by airlines and immigration authorities on departure;
  • All passengers travelling to Kenya are required to obtain their visas online via evisa.go.ke;
  • All incoming passengers are required to complete the Ministry Of Health International Traveller Passenger locator form prior to departure for Kenya via https://ears.health.go.ke/airline_registration/. Upon submission of the form, the QR code will automatically download onto the device used and a copy will be emailed to the passenger. The QR code is to be presented to Porth Health officials at the airport prior to boarding the aircraft;
  • The Government of Kenya has also implemented a Domestic traveller passenger locator form for domestic flights to enhance Covid19 prevention measures. All passengers on domestic scheduled and charter flights, departing from, or arriving at airports with Port Health Authorities are required to complete the online form via bit.ly/LOCALCOVID19MOH prior to their flight. Upon submission of the form, the QR code will automatically download onto the device used and a copy will be emailed to the passenger. The QR code is to be presented to Port Health officials at the airport prior to boarding the aircraft:
    • Passengers are required to complete the form 24 hours prior to their flight from or to the following airports: Wilson Airport, Diani Ukunda Airport, and Mombasa Airport. We recommend that they do this before they leave camp.
    • Please note that all fields on the form marked with a * are mandatory. Please advise your guests of the following:
      • The Date of Arrival in Kenya field is the date that they will be arriving at the airstrip that requires the QR code e.g Wilson Airport, Ukunda Airport etc.
      • The Permanent Address field is the address at which they will be staying in the area.
      • Should they not know their seat number, please use 12 in the Seat Number field.
      • Please enter 1 in the Apartment Number field.
  • The following conditions shall apply to all arriving passengers from the United Kingdom:
    • Restrictions on commercial flights between UK and Kenya has been lifted.
    • All passengers / crew irrespective of nationality and residency status coming to Kenya from the United Kingdom, irrespective of their route of travel to Kenya must be in possession of a valid COVID-19 negative PCR test certificate conducted within 96 hours before travel except children below 5 years of age.
    • All passengers / crew irrespective of nationality and residency status coming to Kenya from the United Kingdom irrespective of their route of travel shall be required to self isolate for seven days upon arrival and take a subsequent PCR test four days after arrival. Passengers shall submit daily health information including the results of their second PCR test on the jitenge platform / app for 14 consecutive days.
  • International flights continue to operate as normal;
  • Domestic scheduled flights and private charters continue to operate as normal throughout Kenya;
  • Restaurants and bars continue to operate as normal throughout Kenya;
  • Hotels continue to operate as normal throughout Kenya;
  • A nationwide curfew remains in place between 22:00 and 04:00 throughout Kenya, until further notice;
  • Face masks are to be worn by all people at all times in public places;
  • Temperature checks will continue to be conducted in public places; and
  • Social distancing of 1.5 m apart is required at all times.

Tanzania

  • All arriving travellers entering the United Republic of Tanzania are required to present a negative Real-Time Polymerase Chain Reaction (RT-PCR) test carried out within 72 hours before arrival;
  • All arriving travellers entering the United Republic of Tanzania will be subjected to enhanced screening for COVID-19 infection including a Rapid Test, the cost of which is USD 10 per person per test in addition to submitting a Health Declaration form upon entry;
  • All travellers entering the United Republic of Tanzania are required to complete a Traveller Surveillance Form via afyamsafiri.moh.go.tz within 24 hours before arrival in Tanzania. Travellers will receive a confirmation control code, including a Unique Health control Code, to be presented during primary screening upon arrival in Tanzania;
  • Travellers arriving in Tanzania following a transit period of longer than 72 hours, will be subjected to a Rapid Test upon arrival at a cost of USD 10 per person per test; 
  • All those arriving into Tanzania through a Land Border must pay the $10 pp charge for a Rapid Antigen test.
  • Due to the current situation of COVID-19 in India, all flights to and from India are banned until further notice;
  • All travellers arriving from India, or those who have travelled through India in the last 14 days regardless of the route taken, shall be subjected to a Rapid Test upon arrival in Tanzania at a cost of USD 10 per person per test, followed by stringent contact tracing and 14 days mandatory quarantine at their own cost. The mandatory quarantine location can be selected by the traveller, from the list provided at moh.go.tz/en
  • Travellers arriving in Tanzania from all other countries are not required to quarantine;
  • Upon arrival, all travellers will be provided with health information cards with toll-free numbers and advised to self-monitor themselves for symptoms and signs. In the case that the traveller develops COVID-19, they will be tested and treated at designated health facilities at their own cost;
  • Requirements for travellers departing Tanzania will be in line with the requirements issued by the travellers’ respective airline or destination country. COVID-19 PCR testing is currently available as follows;
    • Serengeti Seronera (availability depending on the guest’s location and logistics), USD 50 per person per test (excl VAT), in addition to a $ 20 Government Administration cost. Test results available 72 hours of sample collection;
    • Karatu, USD 50 per person per test (excl VAT), in addition to a $ 20 Government Administration cost. Test results available 72 hours of sample collection;
    • Arusha, USD 50 per person per test (excl VAT),  in addition to a $ 20 Government Administration cost. Test results available 72 hours of sample collection; or
    • Zanzibar, USD 50 per person per test (excl VAT), in addition to a $ 20 Government Administration cost. Test results available 72 hours of sample collection.
    • *Note: We will support Guests with the online booking form and facilitate payment for the above. The cost will be added to their bill to settle upon departure.
  • Please note that the current government advice is for travellers to undergo COVID-19 testing a minimum of 5 days prior to departure. Please allow the allocated time, as per the specific airline and destination country requirements;
  • Always carry a hard copy of your COVID-19 test results
  • Face masks are to be worn by all people at all times in public places; and
  • Social distancing of 1.5m apart is required at all times.

It is advisable to carry USD cash to make payment for the Rapid Test on arrival. The cost is USD 10 per person per test.
