DAY 1: ARRIVAL -ARUSHA

JAMBO! Upon arrival at Kilimanjaro Airport, you will be met by Classic Journeys Africa Customer Care Representative who will introduce the Driver Guide who will be with you throughout the safari. He will then assist you with the transfer to your hotel in Arusha, assist you with the hotel check-in and brief you on your program ahead.arusha-tz

DAY 2 : TARANGIRE NATIONAL PARK

This morning depart for Tarangire National Park which Tanzania’s best-kept secret on the northern safari circuit. Named after a nearby river called Tarangire, it has the same attractions as the parks up-north- the only difference is that this place is not usually as crowded as the other ones.

Hot lunch will be served at lodge, following check in, depart for an afternoon game viewing drive in the park returning later as the sun sets.

This is a year-round park with distinct seasons offering different experiences, from dusty, dry and baking with animals clustered around the rapidly reducing river, to the fecund green season full of new-born animals and chattering birds.

DAY 3 :LAKE MANYARA/KARATU

After breakfast drive to the beautiful Lake Manyara, a shallow alkaline lake that shimmers in a cleft in the Great Rift Valley.  Enjoy lunch and check in at your lodge. Then later enjoy an afternoon game viewing in Lake Manyara National Park famous for its tree climbing lions. Later return to your lodge for dinner and overnight.

DAY 4: NGORONGORO CONSERVATION AREA/CENTRAL SERENGETI

This morning depart to the famous Ngorongoro Crater Conservation Area (NCCA), which features rolling plains, lakes, craters, mountains and dormant volcanoes with picnic lunch boxes.

On arrival descend into the ‘8th Wonder of the World’, a unique biosphere that has remained virtually unchanged since the dawn of time. Enclosed within its towering walls are grasslands, swamps, forests, saltpans, a fresh water lake and a glorious variety of birdlife.

Here too are all the members of the ‘Big Five’ (lion, elephant, rhino, leopard and buffalo) as well as a large cast of plains game and one of Africa’s densest populations of predators. Enjoy a picnic lunch on the crater floor before proceeding to Central Serengeti with a game viewing enroute.

DAY 5 & DAY 6 : NORTHERN SERENGETI ~ KURIA HILLS LODGE

This day drive further Northern Serengeti following the migration and to Kuria Hills Lodge. On your second day enjoy a full day game drives (meals taken in true safari style ‘in the bush’) in the vast and sensational Serengeti, which covers 14,763 sq km of endlessly rolling savannah. Venue for ‘the greatest wildlife show on Earth’, the annual migration of over one million wildebeest, the park is also renowned for its lions, cheetahs, zebras, giraffes and plains game. Optional walking safaris available following the migration.

DAY 7 & DAY 8 : MASAI MARA NATIONAL RESERVE ~ ELEWANA SAND RIVER CAMP

After breakfast, transfer to Kogatende Airstrip at 1010hrs and fly Masai Mara on Coastal Aviation, upon arrival at Tarime Airstrip at 1025hrs clear with the Isebania Customs and Immigration Department. You will be picked up by Coastal Aviation shuttle where they will do an hour road transfer to Migori Airstrip then fly Mara at 1215hrs arriving Mara Keekorok Airstrip at 1245hrs where your Kenya Classic Journeys Africa driver guide will be waiting for you to transfer your lodge in time for lunch followed by an afternoon game viewing drive.

The next day proceed for a whole day game viewing drive in the reserve possibly following the migration.

Maasai Mara is Kenya’s most famous wildlife reserve, much the setting for the film Out of Africa. It is classic savannah – grasslands, where animals are plentiful and the vistas spectacular. In this dreamlike land, animals live in freedom, and the Maasai tend their cattle, all sharing the same land with minimal conflict. You will have two days of wildlife-viewing opportunities in the Maasai Mara Reserve, also known as the “Jewel of Africa,” a site with one of the largest and the most spectacular animal migrations in the world. The reserve is inhabited by many of Africa’s most popular wild animals, including lion, cheetah, elephant, leopard, black rhino and hippo. There are also over 500 resident species of birds in the park including ostrich, larks and sunbirds as well as the lovely Lilac-breasted Roller.

Your accommodation Sand River Camp is located on the banks of a river from which it has taken its name; Sand River Masai Mara is located within the Masai Mara National Reserve, close to the Tanzanian border. Sand River Masai Mara is an ideal destination, at any time of the year, for those wishing to enjoy exceptional game-viewing.

DAY 9 : DEPARTURE

Drive to Nairobi. Lunch will be at the Carnivore Restaurant famous for its mouthwatering charcoal grilled barbeque. Spend time doing last minute shopping then later you will be transferred to Jomo Kenyatta International Airport for your flight back home.
